Reserve tank.

Seen here is our 500 gallon in-house water tank.  Our well pump, will pump to up to  this tank and then we'll pressure the entire water system in the house from the tank. We're doing this for two reasons: 1st, in case something happens to the well pump and 2nd, if we decide that we want to capture water from the roof, we then can plumb it here.

314 feet. Water my dear, water.

I just returned from a very wet and muddy week working on the ZAEPB site.  Ill be posting a number of new photos and updates over the next couple of days.  Earlier in the week, we saw 3 days of dry weather, during which I took advantage by trenching from the well head to the house, as we needed to run the piping and electrical for the pump. As seen below.

MIA: And then the Rain Came!

Sorry for the lasp in posting to ZAEP-B.  The Short story is this... The rain arrived. We crashed for Three days. Then departed the island with the boat. One week later we arrived in the VERY South Bay town of Olympia.  We are setting our selves up here for a Three month work stint.  I will be post more soon. Next week I will return to continue interior framing.  Also... I will post pics of the MUD pit that became of our work site.  Again, sorry for the delay. Best!

Roofing Continues

It is said that when building in the Pacific Northwest, you WILL have rain. However, we have been so lucky with our build that it is October 3rd and we still have a week of good clear weather. We are two days away from completing the roof. A number of people have said "aww those metal roofs just snap together and your done". Well... yes and no. Yes, the material does "snap" together, but the "devil is in the details"  There are a number of under layers to install, angles to cut perfectly, and making sure that all the pieces line up correctly , especially when you go to install the LAST Piece!  We should be fine, I will let you know tomorrow.

All trused up.

Today we continued with building the roof for the carport.  We have another day or so before we strap, sheet, and get ready for the roofing to arrive.

Today we'll be installing the roofing joists and roughing in the sky lights. Tomorrow, hopefully, we'll begin sheeting the roof.  A special thanks to the Hunters and Team Aussi.

Aussi Special Forces - Close up.

Sh*#T Flows Downhill.

As it is said: "Sh*#T Flows downhill". in order to accommodate the saying we have started the construction of the septic system.  The large hole in the ground is not for our swimming pool, it's the location for the Tank that will contain the black and grey water as it is broken down. Then the waste water will be pumped by a high pressure pump into the two runs of "Leech Field" seen in the black plastic tunnels.  The waste water is sprayed into those tunnels and allowed to aerate back into the Earth to decompose naturally and to help the environment. :-)

Monday is the scheduled deployment.  We are a Green for Go!  Check back for reports from the field.

Framing: Day One.

To start our framing, my buddy Doug called in reinforcements!  His brother Bill and his lovely wife Barb.   All of them have been a fantastic help. Doug's building knowledge and Bill-n-Barb's enthusiasm and cleanliness! Check out  day one's progress.
